Bake It Better Week with Great Ormond Street Hospital
Tuesday 13 October 2015
Gordon and Tana Ramsay call on bakers across the country to roll up their sleeves and bake in support of Great Ormond Street Hospital
With just one week to go until Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity‘s Bake it Better Week (19 – 25 October) Gordon and Tana Ramsay popped into the world famous children’s hospital to show their support and urged the nation’s cooks to get baking to support the hospital.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity asks budding bakers to butter up their colleagues, friends and classmates on Bake it Better Week and hold a bake sale between 19-25 October to raise vital dough for the hospital.
“Thanks to Gordon and Tana Ramsay for kicking off our Bake it Better campaign for 2015. Every cupcake or cookie sold will help us make a real difference for the seriously ill patients from across the UK at Great Ormond Street Hospital” Tim Johnson, Chief Executive, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.
Gordon and Tana Ramsay lent their support to Bake it Better as part of a brand new partnership between the Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation and the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity which will see the couple take part in a range of fundraising activities to raise vital funds to help the hospital provide world-class care for young patients and their families.
The famous chef and his wife also spent time on the hospital’s Eagle ward where they took part in cake decorating and colouring activities before the children went for dialysis treatment. They met patients and their parents, aged from six to 12, as well as staff from the hospital’s play team who encourage patients to use play as a way of preparing for surgery and procedures, aiming to help make the children’s experience of hospital as stress-free as possible.
Gordon Ramsay said: ‘It was very special to meet the amazing staff, children and families at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Tana and I are delighted to support such an extraordinary place through The Gordon and Tana Ramsay Foundation and I was delighted to get my apron on once more to launch Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Bake it Better campaign 2015.”
The Bake it Better appeal aims to raise more than £200,000 from bake sales across the UK.
